Batroun is located 50 km north of Beirut and is characterized by:

  • The clearest waters of the Lebanese coast
  • Its marine and nautical activities
  • The Phoenician wall
  • Its many archaeological sites
  • Its historic religious sites

This city existed in the IIIrd millennium BC, according to the "Letters of Tell el-Amarna". Also known as the daughter of Tyre, after the king Itho-Baal from Tyre ordered, back in the IXth century BC, the construction of Batroun's citadel. It took different names over the centuries: Beit Truna (chief's house) during the Canaanite period; Botrys at the time of the Greeks, Romans and Byzantines; Boutron at the time of the Crusaders; and will finally be baptized Batroun by the Arabs.
